Is Windows becoming irrelevant 1209notbob As much as I favour Linux over Windopze, Gimp does not (yet) come close to holding a torch to Photoshop. As much as I wish it would! Not in feature-richness, workflow control, ease of use, processing speed, stability even. I do more and more in the Gimp, if only coz' I hate to have to fire up the virtual doze, which on top has stability issues on my box. But for more production-type of work, postprocessing entire batches of my highres digitals I simply save myself too much time and effort by using PS (CS2). If only I could get the bugger to work using wine (still chewing on that, hopefully I succeed... But many have tried, and failed or gave up), then vmware or crossover'd be out of my system in no-time. As for OP's rhetoric question: No single answer would lead to any more clarity, end a ageold feud-discussion or help establishing world peace. So no comment. Sh. -- Why are the people starving? Because the rulers eat up the money in taxes. Therefore the people are starving. Is Windows becoming irrelevant 1210 Just what kind of work do you do with image processing? Let me share my experience. My photos... Why are the people rebellious? Because the rulers interfere too much. Therefore they are rebellious. Why do the people think so little of rest? Because the rulers demand too much of life. Therefore the people take rest lightly. Having little to live on, one knows better than to value life too much.
