I'll confess that the majority of Linux users that I have encountered have come across to me and my friends as crackpots. Several of us including me have thought about trying out Linux but we just don't want to be buttociated with the type of people we see promoting Linux. On my campus there is a Linux user group-club as well as an Apple and Windows one. The Apple group is by far the most popular on campus with the Windows group second. The Linux group-club is the butt of jokes all the time and we have to be on the watchout for spies coming into the Apple group. Its like a game we play but the interesting part is that we don't care what they are up to but they are certainly interested in what we, as Apple users, are doing in our club. So I hope you can understand why I too consider Linux users to be crackpots. Maybe you and the slient Linux users should post more to blogs and news groups so that you can try and offset the crackpots. They are certainly not doing much good for Linux and by remaining silent you are in effect accepting their odd behavior.
