I run a Debian-Sarge box that is permanently connected to the internet via DSL through execulink.com. I...

I wrote to the author maintainer at KDE because I thought this had earned their attention. Tobias responded immediately and requested this be posted for all:

Thanks for the hint, the good news is, kaddressbook supports all the needs of this user, the bad news, it's well hidden and not documented in a good way ;)

Could you please forward this answer to the newsgroup?

Using dialing applications in KAddressBook --------------------------------------------

To enable KAddressBook to dial a stored phone number you have to setup which application shall actually do the phone communication,

You can use there 'ant' for example for dialing via ISDN or kppp for analog connections.

When the setup is done you can click on the phone numbers in the details page of a contact (they are marked as hyperlinks) to start the dialing.

Importing CSV files ---------------------- List. At the top of the appearing dialog you can select the file you want to import. On the panel below you can select the delimiter character and a date format if it differs from the ISO one.

Since CSV isn't a defined standard, the user has to do the buttignment column with the combobox which is located above each column.

For KAddressBook, Yahoo and Outlook 200 exists already a template of this buttignment which can be applied by clicking the 'Load Template' button from the bottom of the dialog.

When everything is configured you can click 'Ok' and the CSV file is imported.

I know all these information should be part of the handbook, but writing documentation in english isn't my preferred activity ;) So if somebody volunteers to do so, feel free to contact me!
