On Thursday 29 June 2006 23:17, Timothy Murphy stood up and spoke the following words to the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.misc...:

I'm not a natively English speaker and I'm not sure what "logorrhoea" means - my spell checker even complains about the word so I doubt that it's legit - but I'm sure it's something nasty... :-

The infinite sequence of posts was certainly not my doing - there are far more responses to this thread than mine alone. I was only responsible for a few posts made under the buttumption that Mandrake and Fedora still shared the same boot-up procedures, and I clearly stated that I *buttumed* such - not that I was sure of it.

As soon as it was spelled out that Fedora Core and Mandrake-Mandriva are actually different in their boot-up - more specifically in regards to initial ramdisks and root pivots - I was willing to accept that.

My buttertiveness in this matter got invoked when the poster known asSamfar more buttertively wrote off what I had said about the followed by the buttertion that there never is such a thing as a directory *-initrd.* The way he said that, it sounded like that applied to all distributions and that therefore I was by definition totally wrong.

The other follow-ups further down the thread in which I was involved also had nothing to do with "refusing to admit I was wrong", which was your whole point in your reply.

the following words to the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.misc...: If so, then I don't see what would be so wrong about my - mentally? - logging things...

If you have the delusional idea that someone from Higher Up among the more ethereal Planes of Existence has plantarded you moderator of this newsgroup and you can't actually be bothered to read what I have written before you go and spoutad-hominemremarks at me - which you can't even seem to let go of in the very post I'm replying to now either - then at least have the wisdom to acknowledge that throwing false accusations at me isn't going to make me shut up - on the contrary, even!

Please cease thinking of yourself as superior or godlike. You're only human, just like me, and you made a bad judgment call. Just a pity that the irony of it all is that *you* are the one accusing *me* of refusing to admit I was wrong.

As a sidenote, I think the weekly statistics will show that my name shows up more in the list of frequent posters than yours, and my advice generally is helpful - if it's not or it's incorrect, then I'll be the first to admit and apologize. What have *you* to say for yourself?

Linux has poor multimedia features 1737
Dances With Crows *IF* we are talking about DVD playback (and I have 3 separate DVD Playback apps installed-available for 98 -- all using the same Cinema Codec...

Pot, kettle, black. Get over your ego, dude. It isn't worth it.

P.S.: You've now reached the second level - thou hast been warned.
