As the matter of fact, autistic people - and notably Aspergians - do have a very strong attention to detail and a strong recollection of such details. Well, those of us who aren't afflicted with AD(H)D as well, that is. My brother's youngest has both, and that's a whole different ballgame... Linux has poor multimedia features 1737 Dances With Crows *IF* we are talking about DVD playback (and I have 3 separate DVD Playback apps installed-available for 98 -- all using the same Cinema Codec to decipher(mpeg2) and tranfer... Autistic people are however impaired in other ways, most notably in the direct interpersonal communication department, especially in the area of non-verbal communication. We're also usually quite neurotic - I know that I for one certainly am candor. The latter is however what it is: candor, and nothing else. We say things as they appear to us. I like to think that I'm quite tactful in that area, but many Aspergians aren't. Yet they don't mean to be insultive or disrespectful. Autism and Asperger's Syndrome - also dubbed "High-Functioning Autism" - are not mental illnesses. There are no psychoses, delusions or hallucinations, although the eccentricity of most Aspergians tends to lead unknowing observers to confuse our condition with schizophrenia, which is an entirely different thing and has an entirely different biological and physiological cause. In short, what separates autistic people from "normal" people physiologically is that the neurons of autistic people are far less developed than those of "normal" people, while at the same time, autistic people do have a whole lot more neurons than those very same "normal" people. This causes signals to be conveyed to our brains less with less clarity but at the same time with much greater intensity - up to a degree where it becomes unbearable. Anyway, I realize I'm needlessly stretching this thread, so I'm going to sign off from here. I only hope that the above will clarify things to you somewhat.
