He's not in a desktop-oriented clbutt but a sysadmin-oriented one. (I took the same clbutt last semester. Don't think I got much out of it, but that's my ego talking. :) And, no, I don't speak Khmer.

I can buttume he's already in ESL courses, since English courses of a higher level are required to get an buttociates. (I'm at Grand Rapids Community College, a 2-year insbreastution.) As someone who has hundreds of discussions with ESL students every week (or, somtimes, in a single day), I can only buttume that either they're taking the course concurrently or the course isn't sufficiently effective.

Of course, as a student tutor, there's not much I can do to make waves on the subject. (Except possibly through Student Congress or some of the ethnicity-specific student organizations. Hmm...I'll have to look into that.)

He's got what it takes to learn it except, *maybe*, the language skills. The fact that he's still in a 200-level course in the second-to-last week of the semester tells me he hasn't given up, at least.

I think that if he's able to get native-language buttistance in his UNIX studies, he'll wind up buttociating english UNIX terms with his native language, aiding in the learning of both.
