Years ago, I got to know CP-M and Concurrent CP-M (and met Apple's own OS and MS--PC-DOS); I then spent a year getting to know and like BSD Unix (and met Primos and Primix); since then I have *mainly* used Unix variants, and largely steered clear of the NT desktop that was doing the rounds in these parts; I am lumbered with an XP desktop for now, but I certainly don't want to buy my own. When I first looked into Linux some years ago, Debian seemed much more my thing than Red Hat. I get the impression that Red Hat has "moved my way" by having less stuff switched on by default. Debian remains at the top of my list, but should it be displaced by Ubuntu? Or would Ubuntu underpinnings plus some Debian additions make more sense still? A search for IPC boxen draws a blank. Any thoughts (particularly about the first four or so of those IPC machines, and appropriate supplier(s) for Liverpool, England)?
