Linux, The Great Time Waster!! 4097
All of them. Your problems were a) Your Raid controller did not work. It is possible. very new hardware takes longer for Linux to support than does Windows, because under windows the manufacturer writes the drivers, and they do not do that for Linux. so if you really need that latest hardware, Linux is not the way to go. In a year they will have full support, but you may not want to wait. b) Your nvidia card-- Modules are always kernel specific. So a module which works under one kernel may not under another. Again nvidia does not give out any info about its cards to Linux, so noone can write drivers. c) Your dvd watching. No idea what was wrong since the info you gave was insufficient. One problem might have been regional encoding You can get libdecss, but no distro can include it ( talk with the RIAA and other US companies about this). d) ipod-- no idea on this.
No. ALL major recent distros include usbcore, uhci-usb and usb-storage And if they are not loaded, try loading them before you recompile your kernel modprobe usb-storage etc However it does seem that on the most recent 2.6 kernels, the EFI Parbreastion support interferes with the ipods.
