Linux 'loses' 1st job to print serverHi, Need tip on parbreastion scheme for multiple distros On Tue, 05 Jul 2005 17:16:56 GMT, Al C. staggered into the Black Sun and said... Running Red Hat ES v3.0 and have set up several print queues using CUPS to both local and remote sites. All printers are attached to print servers (a variety of D-Links and Netgears) and the printers are both dot-matrix and lasers. Printing to local site is OK, *BUT* printing to remote sites is a problem. If the print server has been inactive for say 10-15 minutes and you send a print job, it just does not print. If you send a 2nd print job it prints just fine. If you keep printing and don't leave a gap they carry on printing just fine. If I leave a 10-15 minute gap, I get the scenario where I loses my 1st print job again. Curious about certain kinds of installations 4009 Madhusudan Singh Ease of use? While pretty well any application can be compiled to run under any distro, the point of a package manager is to make life easier. Not... I did a little test where if I leave the print server inactive for 10 minutes and then telnet onto it I get a "connection refused" message, after this initial refusal I can then telnet onto it OK as long as the print server has not been inactive. Also, there is an old HP-UX server which can print to these same print servers with no problem at all. Anyone experience anything like this? Thanks.
