Linux Based Audio Hardware Interface Poised to Unseat Protools! 2305Free server monitoring Request for Expressions of Interest Hi All, I'm thinking of building a free service which will check the status of your servers-services. It'll probably be based on Nagios and... On Fri, 07 Jul 2006 16:31:18 -0700, corrie.lebeu I hope you appreciate that this is for an entirely different market than a pro tools rig. It's an ultra light portable DAW that falls between things like the Edirol R1 and a conventional laptop + soundcard. It does look useful though. Proper 48v phantom, probably better converters than R1-Microtrack etc, analog gain controls etc. I'm not too happy with the choice of Audacity as the initial recording app. I'd rather see Ardour, (even the old 0.93 stable version) as it's much more versatile for editing and I could dump projects directly to my PC Ardour rig. Audacity has never felt quite right for me for some reason, though it's quite popular. I guess I'll have to wait till ecasound-jack is ported. Now, the ARM port of Pure Data on this would really sell it to me. A little portable software modular synth + 2 track recorder has been something I have been looking for for as long as I can remember. Linux Based Audio Hardware Interface Poised to Unseat Protools! 2306 When was the last time you looked at a Linux build? Time to pull you head... Some ideas on ETHoberon & LinuxC relationship Andreas F. Borchert The libc is certainly not a good guide: * Buffer overruns are not ruled out by design: gets, sscanf etc... From the article: "Our DAW is like ProTools, only better. It's portable, so you can take your work with you. The extended battery life, Linux OS, and on-board WiFi makes this a perfect all-in-one solution for recording and podcasting." I do wish people would stop comparing things to Pro Tools. It just makes the people who have used PT sceptical, and the comparison is just not valid in this case.
