Here is story on cheap wireless network-ethrnet adapters:

As per information available in latest Linux kernel 2.6.16.x sources and the FreeBSD 6.1-RC manuals I bought Surecom's EP-9428-g-2A CardBus and EP-9321-g-2A PCI adapters thinking these might be based on Ralink's chipsets. But this time, these are based on Realtek's RTL8185 chipset, so searched and downloaded the GPLed Linux drivers from Realtek's site. I compiled and installed the driver without any problem; it works for both the cards, but makes the transmitting-sender machine hang on larger data requests. I though it might be buffer overflow, so reported the same to Realtek, but only a thanks in the reply.

It is interesting to note that, If I connect some windope machine to my LAN, both of these Linux machines behave well with same driver towards windope although buggy again in Linux to Linux wireless communication.

Moreover, the driver for these is included with both NetBSD and OpenBSD, but the same needs to be ported for FreeBSD as yet.

I never have ported and, or written any driver module for Linux and, or FreeBSD till yet, but would love to re-write (write from scratch) one based this chipset for both the said operating systems; because I love Linux and FreeBSD and moreover the Realtek people are ready to release all technical details on their RTL8180-RTL8185 and RTL8187 chipsets.

Any one out there interested to join hands shall highly be appreciated and is welcomed!
