Actually, that is incorrect. The GPL is about free software. The GPL existed before the term "open source" was even coined. The GPL imposes a few requirements on anyone who receives GPLed software and then distributes anything derived from it:
- "... any work ... that ... contains or is derived from the GPLed Program or any part thereof" must be under GPL, meaning any recipient must be allowed to redistribute the work. (Terms 2b)

A binary RPM contains much of the content of the source code (string constants), etc. It is derived from the source through compilation--as in all the logic constructs of the source are contained in the binary (barring dead code elimination, etc.) Therefore, object code from GPLed source IS a derived work and MUST be redistributable. Any non-redistributable distribution of anything based on GPLed source is a violation of the GPL. HatRed's restriction against multiple installation (redistribution to self) and redistribution to others of binary RPMs violates the GPL.
