Linux Fails The Family Test BADLY! 2796

Robert & al: some critic would be valid (plugins etc...), unfortunately the rest of the text may discredit what is valid: normal people do not "*HATE*" a software, they usually just dislike it.

"Junk food lovers" often *hate( "gourmet cuisine", and after all Linux may be for the "computer gourmet", elegant, free, powerful, flexible, but requires some palate education to be fully appreciated.

If you want one day to become a "computer gourmet" then learning the basic of Linux may change your taste for the better. You may have tried to bypbutt this step.

We all value freedom, and if a very large portion of fries with mayonnaise is the only food which makes you happy, then there is no point "wasting your time with Linux", of course.

My experience is that kids... and adults love Linux... because it works, has good video games, and is fun, so we may not live on the same planet. Most of my friends use Windows, and whenever they use my computer with SUSE 9.3, the first reflex is to "click twice" when one would suffice, the second word is WOW !

And sure Linux is not perfect, but neither is Windows with its viruses, crashes, spyware and other pop-up windows for Viagara... It is all about choice, but an educated choice is better, and may be getting educated about Linux would be a good place to start. Where there is a will there is a mean.

ps: I would admit that Linux is not for everyone, and the install of software is not always as easy as for commercial software. This is progressing quite fast though. ------------------------------ Robert Strunk
