Linux Fails the Scotland Police Dept. 4464

Sharon Cackle When you post be sure to include all the *FACTS* next time. Linux did not fail the police department per say. But anyone reading the whole artical would of known this. Please tell use just why you think it is so important to point out this to all the different news groups to start with. Perhaps they would of had less trouble if the people using the software would have been taught how to do the tasks that were required from them. No where in the artical did it say that they were provided the information necessary to do the job that was required. Nor does it say that because they move to "Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server to handle incoming FOIA requests" that the force will have less problems.

About the TCO how about the "Microsoft to offer preferential rates for public sector organisations, and will cost the force less than £60,000 per year" hmmm is that part of the TCO ??

After reading the artical it does not seem like the Scotland Police Dept. was really well prepaired. This is not a *LINUX* problem. Perhaps they should be having a closer look at their IT dept.
