I write mine all down. I have hundreds of the things (do not want the same login and pbuttword on multiple servers scattered around the Internet). I do not write them down in the computer or on Posbreast notes stuck to the monitor, but in a notebook somewhere. Even were I willing to use the same login and pbuttword at all servers, I cannot, because some say only lower case, some insist on mixed case, some want special characters, some prohibit them, some want up to 6 characters, some want at least 8, etc. Of course, that is not really a good idea because a black hat could find that notebook... . What I would prefer is that all servers use digital certificates, so I could have one (e.g., from VeriSign), and have it queried automatically from the various web sites. I could also use it for encrypting e-mails. Actually, I use GPG for that, but I doubt commercial sites (e.g., my bank) would understand web of trust and even trust me. But I could take them a floppy with my public key on it and then they should trust me.
