Linux May Hit Single Digit Desktop Marketshare in 5 Years!!! 2374Tomas Dunton An obvious troll.... but.... it's interesting how people can read some things and what their interpretation can be. The article actually states.... "For the desktop, market share in mature markets will be single digits in five years; in emerging markets it will be in the 15 percent to 20 percent range". Let's play devils advocate here and read between the lines.... the article does NOT say the market share will *increase* to single digit figures.... how do you know they don't actually mean it will FALL to single digit figures in mature markets from current double digit figures? Also, the 15-20% in emerging markets that you mysteriously omitted is quite an interesting figure that will scare the hell out of M$. And, the article is not very clear.... how do you know these figures are not actually for predicted market GROWTH? 15-20% GROWTH in emerging markets? Sounds about right! The article does NOT make this clear. Sure, of course you can trust those statistics! A lot of browsers running on linux are deliberately set up to identify as MS IE6 so that some stupidly written websites don't bork when they see something other than IE! These figures are pretty meaningless. Linux May Hit Single Digit Desktop Marketshare in 5 Years!!! 2375 David L. Johnson I changed a traditional PC (Windows) set-up to a full thin... I'd say M$ are having a fit over this article if they think they'll be losing 15-20% market share in emerging markets!! It's all about how you interpret what is reported in a very poorly written article :)
