Linux Security 7168Grub Installation Mini HowTo I wrote a guide called the "Hard Disk Upgrade Mini How-To". Part of this... I–aki Silanes I understood it easily enough. I only said viri because virii was manifestly wrong. And it is true that our knowledge of Latin is based almost entirely on surviving Latin texts. In those texts, scholars have pointed out that no plural of virus exists, so we cannot be sure it ever had one. It seems quite possible that it really did not have a plural, since they did not know what we mean now by the word virus and there may well have been no need to distinguish one historical virus from another or no means to do so. Our knowledge of declining Latin nouns is based only on the historical documents known to us, and there are gaps such as this one. Sort of like declining the verb from which we get license. licet seems to be only third person pbuttive voice. So we cannot say I am permitted, though it is OK to say it is permitted for me to. Probably that is how they did it too. -- .~. Jean-David Beyer Registered Linux User 85642.
