Linux Vs. FreeBSD 7131Michael Heiming *Strictly speaking,* nothing. However, if we look at things from the end user's perspective instead of from the technical perspective, and again, the context of this discussion is that we're speaking from the end user's perspective, everything. These are Linux's "face" to the 99+% of real end users who want a full-fledged desktop environment. Yes, *technically*, they're just window managers running on top of Linux and X. However, in a less technical sense, they are Linux's user interface, at least to people who have no intention of ever using the command line. Need I say it again? You are an elitist who feels that at least a few aspects of Linux should be hard to use so that you can feel like you're smart when you use it. Your reluctance to accept the fact that point-and-click is the current paradigm for ease of use clearly shows this. To you, anyone that doesn't want to learn all the inner workings of Linux just to install a package that doesn't happen to be in the repositories, or even if they know how to do it, doesn't want to chase down dependencies, configure build environments, or sift through readme files, is stupid.
