Somebody dear to me had Linux installed in his PC some time ago. This person is not a geek - he can use his PC, but is not in a position to do advanced things - or to buy equipment to do backups, not in the short term. As it happens, he needs to have XP in his PC, in order to use some applications not supported under Linux. He does not want to go the VMware way, on the grounds that he's got the XP CD already, and VMware is expensive. Also, his PC might have a hard time running XP within Linux - it will probably a hard time running XP, anyway. Finally, I can't be of direct help to him, at least not immediately, because he lives in another continent, thousands of miles away.

I.e. what on earth was that all about?) Please do! Raise some questions about it. I don't...

Mr. Breuer, I do not doubt your knowledge and technical expertise on all things Linux. However, that does not enbreastle you to adopt a condescending, supercilious atbreastude when somebody asks a question the resolution of which might be trivial for you, and the motivation behind which you fail to understand. Not being technically savvy does not imply stupidity, and it would do you well always to show a modicum of politeness in your replies.
