Linux at school with notebooks 5116Linux at school with notebooks 5117 This is just gibberish. EIther processes run on the client or on the server. If they run on the client, then you have no control of what...
Indeed. One of the basic principles in security is that if you allow physical access then all the other policies-proceduressoftware controls etc. are essentially useless. If I walk out of the clbuttroom with my laptop there is ZERO that you can do ( software wise at least ) to stop me from doing anything I want with it. That's the basis of my comment many notes back in this thread that if you are trying to secure your network from the CLIENT end you have no way of succeeding, since you have no way of controlling the clients. And this has nothing to do with any particular OS- you set up whatever OS you like on your network, and allow me to attach my laptop and unless you are properly secured I can guarantee that I can do nasty things. This reminds me of the libraries-internet cafe's and so on that actually expose floppy disks, cdroms, USB ports so that anyone can run anything ( including any OS ) on their computers. You can bet that either they don't have a clue or their networks are really solid and secure. Stan -- Stan Bischof ("stan" at the below domain) www.worldbadminton.com
