I think all of you need to calm down and understand that people are going to use what works for them. The means to the production of the music is immaterial to the result because it is the results that actually matter. Arguing over such silly things as Linux vs. the rest of the planet is pointless.

Let me hear the end product of your efforts. I'll wager nobody could tell the difference as to what system-software was being used, as long as care was taken throughout the whole production process to ensure noise was kept out, the mix was balanced and laid out properly, and any editing was seamless.

As any of you can probably attest, I've heard great sounding music produced on supposedly crappy gear -- and I myself have recorded music on less than stellar equipment with great results -- and I've heard horrible sounding music produced in million dollar facilities with all the stuff that should have ensured a quality sound.

Remember that, for the most part, it's the engineer not the gear, stupid, that creates a great sounding recording. And good musicianship makes it worth the work.
