Actually it IS the point, because you are comparing two complete different types of facilities. Disney uses Linux programs that are highly modified by their in house programming staff and adapt the off the shelf and somewhat lame Linux programs to fit their needs. Weren't they the ones that got Photo-shop running, more or less, under Wine? As a side note, I believe Disney replaced proprietary and very expensive Unix systems (SGI etc), not Windows systems with Linux and they had to invest a lot of capital to modify the software to suit their needs. Nice to have that option buttuming you have a programming staff competent to perform the task.

Recording studios, no matter how large, are highly unlikely to have programming staff to re-program Protools, even if they did have the source code.

The problem with you Linux guys is you are always buttuming people want to get under the hood and become programmers. And this is a clear reason why Linux is dissed by many people right off the bat.In this field, some might, but most simply don't have the time because they are too busy juggling clients. The software-hardware is a tool and the best technology is the technology that does it's job day after day unseen.
