sorry john swenson I use linux every day in my studio's both at work and home, I produce audio (midi and audio)and video (capture and manipulation) for television and radio ad's, I also use the same software to create home video to send to relations around australia both on dvd and vhs - I havent managed to drag some of them in to this century yet :) - and all of this took me about 3 weeks to come to grips with and thats after using software on windows and the doctrination that comes with it.

So why wouldnt I use free software when the turn around is in actual fact such a small price to pay? I no longer have to worry about the cost of buying the software for one thing and then the cost of upgrading the software in a couple of years for another thing and finally the savings I have made in both my studios by taking a few weeks to get used to this new and freer way of working is that I can now afford even better equipment so please enlighten me as to WHY anyone would not switch? oh btw just so you know yes I can do absolutely everthing on these linux boxes that I could do on the windows ones.

However I will admit one thing....I still have one windows box left in my home....that is so once in a while I can turn it on and remind myself of the quagmire I use to think was "the best it would be" never will I be a windows slave again!
