Linux is horrible. 1628

First, I must say you just opened up yourself for a big flame war. Secondly, linux can do all the things you have mentioned here, and almost flawlessly. Here is a box and here is your brain inside the box. 0 Now, to start using linux, you must start thinking outside that box. Okay, first, we need to get you on a easy to use distro. I suggest Ubuntu. Secondly, if installing linux wiped you Windows parbreastion, you told it to do so. Sorry, but that's the dirty truth of it all. You really need someone experienced in Linux to get you started, and it would be nice if they could look over you should as you are doing your install. Here is a dummy proof how-to.

Ubuntu, if I'm not mistaken, has automount built into is, so it should automount your mp3 player. Here is a sidenote, if your mp3 player does not function as a mbutt usb storage device, you might have a hard time using it. I use my Ipod mini almost flawlessly, but I've completely hacked it and I run Rockbox on it now. Well, if you decide to re-install, this info will get you through the first few steps. After that, come back and we will do our best to walk you through the rest of it. If you decide not to reinstall, then I apologize in advance for the great opportunity you are going to miss. I have linux running on every PC I own, Debian to be exact, and will never go back to any other OS. It's the greatest cyber experience I've ever had.
