Linux persontoperson chess programIgnoramus16588 Not especially linux, but useable for peer-2-peer chessplay, provided at least one of them has access to some php-enabled webspace... I don't know if Gnuchess has settings for making it play like my grampa used to. Most computers I played against are at least fair (from a 5 yr old point of view anyway). No idea of course how talented your son-daughter is... I used to play against kids, where they got a head start. I'd take my queen and rooks away first, then depending on their ability either one by one put them back or take more stuff off the board. You could always setup boards like that and make the pc play against the rugrat from that starting point... OT Gagging the Dimwit Trolls Thanks for wearing a gag when you are in my newsreader. (not that you have any choice in the matter) Trolls aren't very... I gave up computer chess right after I managed to get three consecutive wins in against Fritz7 at full throttle. I spent sooo much time on it in the past, and actually have become bored a bit with the game. Perhaps it weill come back to me when I am old and wise... Have fun teaching the kid, great to see them picking up on new tricks. If you have the server up, maybe I cam be coerced into having a go as well.... Good Luck ! Sh.
