I am having a little trouble getting TV to work.
I have a LifeView FlyTV Platinum MiniPCI tuner card. I have done a lot of reading and figured out that the card uses a Phillips saa7134 chip. tuner #54.
The first time I booted into linux with the card plugged in, dmesg said card UNKOWN-GENERIC.
Since I know the card number, I did: $# modprobe saa7134 card=39

Tried testing with tvtime but no signal.
Since I didn't have a video signal, I figured I had to manually set the tuner type when modprobe. So I did: $# modprobe -r tuner $# modprobe -r saa7134 $# depmod -a $# modprobe saa7134 card=39 tuner=54
Ever since I removed the saa7134 module and tried to reload it, the two lines from dmesg are missing: tuner 0-004b: type set to tda8290+75
Even though the two lines are not showing up in dmesg, I think the tuner is still getting loaded: $# lsmod grep saa7134 saa7134 98772 0 videobuf 19844 1 saa7134 v4l2common 5888 1 saa7134 v4l1compat 12420 1 saa7134 ircommon 7428 1 saa7134 videodev 9344 1 saa7134 i2ccore 19728 3 tuner,saa7134,i2cacpiec soundcore 9184 2 saa7134,snd
$# lsmod grep tuner tuner 24488 0 i2ccore 19728 3 tuner,saa7134,i2cacpiec
I've tried loading the saa7134 module with every single tuner listed on linuxtv.org but still cannot see any video using tvtime OR vlc OR mplayer...
Any ideas why dmesg doesn't show the tuner anymore???
