MAX screen resolution on FC2 Is 800x600 2989Black Sun and said: Large files problem on RedHat 8 Hi there. there is my problem. I can't handle file larger than 2G with all my Redhat servers (some on i386 and others on Itanium2 64bits) if I ls -al test (from... "My truck is broken, so I will borrow a car to make sure my truck's engine is working correctly." ...Your sentence beginning with "my point was" is very, very similar to the sentence I wrote above. If you don't understand why that is, you need to go read the X HOWTO. There is a problem with your X's config file that is preventing you from using resolutions other than 640x480 or 800x600. As such, you need to fix it, not fiddle around with other distros or OSes when all the tools you need (-sbin-lspci and a text editor) are available on FC2. snip RH8.0 boot hangs at 'loadkeys $KEYMAP Nothing at all as far as I can see. I tried this and as none of the filesystems are mounted at this point... NOTE: If you have Driver "vesa", you have the wrong driver listed. The Monitor section and info about the monitor may also help. If the monitor is an LCD with native size 800 pixels x 600 pixels, nothing you do to X will provide a higher resolution than 800x600. (This isn't likely here since the monitor's a CRT.) If you put in narrow sync ranges and you have modes larger than 800x600 defined, X looks at the config file's sync settings and refuses to use any mode that'd make the sync go outside those ranges. "grep outsidevar-log-X*.log" can help with diagnosing that particular problem. If you post the output of "-sbin-lspci grep VGA", then post the Device and Screen sections of the X config file or put the entire X config file up on your webspace and follow up with a URL, someone will be able to get back to you very quickly with a detailed analysis of what's wrong and a detailed step-by-step explanation of how to fix it. You can try to use Knoppix or whatever to fix it, but the approach I outlined above will fix your problem much more quickly. -- Matt GThere is no Darkness in Eternity-But only Light too dim for us to see Brainbench MVP for Linux Admin mail: TRAP + SPAN don't belong
