Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Anything similar on Linux 3679Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Anything similar on Linux 3680 Actually it's a Sun User, Jonathan Schwartz and the 2nd thing, and this beauty goes all the way through to the internals and permeates the OS and bundled... Rick Pikul I want to add something else. Don't get me wrong, I *like* OSX. Its stable, reasonalby fast, and easy to use. I use it now and again on other people's computers. I have no real complaints about it. However, when i need to get work done, I turn to Linux. Why? Because I have total control over my Linux system. nothing goes on without me expressly telling the machine to do so. It does what i need and gets out of my way. No superfluous crap. Superfluous crap in my mind is anything that wastes CPU cycles on making it moron friendly. Unfortunately in my work i need every last CPU cycle i can get. So I strip my system down to its bare essentials most of the time. For programming work I prefer to work without the gui altogether, it just wastes cpu cycles processing widgets, and my time moving my hand back and forth from mouse to keyboard. OSX does not meet my needs. That's all there is to it. Sure its a good OS. For some things I like using it. Not for working. I won't pretend Linux is for everyone, and you need to stop pretending that OS X is for everyone.
