Long time ago, I was a grunt in a major urban utility during the time at which PCs emerged as a business tool...

Looks like you've wasted your time.

On Fri, 07 Apr 2006 20:01:02 +0000, Poly-poly man They may* want *to sue someone when their software goes bad, but they're most likely prevented from doing so...

The PHB is smart and that is why he is the boss and you are a grunt. Only a complete idiot would even consider moving a running shop willy nilly to Linux. Your boss, unlike you, is interested in keeping his job so he goes with the proven software, Windows instead of the inexpensive hack, Linux.

It is interesting that you would say that. Many long-standing businesses, especially in the telecommunications industry...

People hate Linux for a reason. It's cryptic, always in a state of confusion and half baked. Maybe someday Linux, or at least one of the Linuxs might actually be completed but with more distributions entering the channel every day, I doubt it. At some point Linux is going to collapse under it's own weight.

Only an butthole would try and advocate Linux in a Windows shop. Don't you realize that people don't give a poo about Linux? They only want to keep their jobs and only a fool would babble on and on about how great Linux is.

WTF did you think would happen when you put Linux in the hands of the users? They objected that's why because Linux as a desktop operating system is crude and sucks. When the users complain, you are thrown out.

It's going to go smooth as silk because Microsoft knows what it is doing and the rag-tag bunch of hippies in charge of Linux don't. They are too busy trying to sign up new members for the Linux cult.
