You'll probably have to turn off the system unit and reboot with a rescue disk and run fsck manually, probablly editing lilo-group config files to see that it doesn't happen again. Or the modules config file to see that needed ones are loaded at boot.

Ctrl-Alt-Del is often configured inetc-inittab to run shutdown (man shutdown). Won't help except for that. If it stalls before reaching the boot prompt, you'll have to turn off the system unit. If you get the boot prompt, you can enter various arguments to lilo and pbutt parameters to the kernel. Again, what's needed depends on the specific problem and we'll need the error messages for that. You'll have to copy them down manually. Do it carefully and literally.

The guidelines for sigs on the Usenet limits them to 4 lines maximum, including blank ones, after a line with only the delimter "-- " on it, as you have done above.
