Meaning of Console_ entries in keymap filesI think the man page for keymap is pretty awful, but I have managed to figure out most of what I'd like to know. Some things are throwing me though. For example, just looking at F10: keycode 68 = F10 F22 Console22 F34 alt keycode 68 = Console10 control alt keycode 68 = Console10 I understand that F22 is the shifted F10 and I can program that easily. traffic control Yes, I read on the lartc howto that outgoing data can be shaped and incoming data can be "policed", but that the IMQ driver could be used to shape incoming data. Anyway what I *think... I can also program F34 easily, though it isn't what I think it should be from "man keymaps". If I program F34, it's Ctrl-F10 that will send my definition, not shift AltGr as I would have thought from modifier weight Shift 1 AltGr 2 Control 4 Alt 8 etc. The F34 is in position 3, not 4, so that should be Shift and AltGr, not Control. The man page says that Shift and Alt would be from position 9, or tenth column, so I can't be reading this wrong..Control should be position 4 or column 5.. yet I must be wrong. So that's confusing.. I can even program the the mysterious Console22 position if I replace the keymap with something like: keycode 68 = F10 F22 F100 F34 alt keycode 68 = Console10 control alt keycode 68 = Console10 and then if I program F100, either Alt key sends my definition. So, I guess a few questions: Why am I misunderstanding the modifier table? FTP utility wanted Howdy I don't have the most reliable internet connection in the world but need to do a fair amount of ftp uploads (not downloads... What is the meaning of AltGr as opposed to just Alt in the modifier table? What do these "Console" keysyms indicate? I've grepped through all the source and the include files, and the only place I find these is in keymaps.. so it must be loadkeys that translates those.. into what?
