Microsoft Media Juggernaut Is Unstoppable So Long LinuxDr. Scab So, on the basis of there being a challenge with playing certain media files, "Linux" should just hang it up? You just don't get it, though... There *IS* no Linux. It's not a company, competing for market share. It's not an organization. It's an OS, created by a widely scattered group of people all over the world, each of whom is working towards a different goal. Sick of trolls! 3719 As mentioned else-thread, I scan 90 newsgroups each day (I only read perhaps 10), so I get... Linux is not a Windows clone. It isn't trying to be Windows. If people want an OS that's like Windows, they should simply use Windows. It's not hard to find a Windows-capable computer. Personally, the big boys can have multimedia, for all I care. In general, computers have a long way to go before they will be able to provide adequate sound and video capabilities. They're getting better - but so are entertainment centers. Your comment "so long Linux" is premature, and most likely false. Unlike commercial companies, Linux doesn't rely on financial success to survive. There are enough excellent programmers out there to support it, even if no one is buying it... and in fact, most of the time, people don't buy their distros. Microsoft's juggernaut isn't going to do it any harm. -- Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. -- Henry David Thoreau
