Mono on Fedora Core 5It's solved at last. See the following post in Mono Community for details. Basically, I did the following. 1. use "Add-Remove Software" to add Development Libraries, Development Tools and GNOME Software Development 2. install Mono and MonoDevelop without dependencies as suggested by DaRocker22: "The easiest way I have explained to people in the past to install Mono on Fedora is to go to the mono-downloads page. Download all .zip packages. and do the following. Crashes caused by numerous file writes I've been experiencing an alarming number of system freezes in the last couple of weeks (nothing... 1. Unzip all rpms from the mono.zip to a empty folder. 2. From your terminal window change directories to that folder and then run: rpm -Uvh *.rpm 3. If you get depenency errors you may add --nodeps ex: rpm -Uvh *.rpm --nodeps Next do the same with webserver.zip, devtools.zip, gtk-sharp-2.0.zip, if you already have gtk-sharp-1.0 installed then there is no need to re-download gtk-sharp-1.0.zip, since there have no been no changes. If you get any error message saying package already installed, then go find the package in the directory you unzipped to and delete it, and the run the rpm command again." After I installed with rpms at terminal, there are two shortcuts, MonoDevelop and Monodoc, in the Programming menu group. Thanks!
