Yup. Linux advocates like to state there are *thousands* and *thousands* of apps. for Linux.

But this is typical of the type of app. that ships with Linux: A very unpolished, unfinished piece of software that only works under a very specific set of circumstances - not tested with other distributions, not tested with other configurations, not tested really much at all. This is open source software.

Why do you think MS actually *charges* for software? They have hundreds of paid testers testing their software out on many different hardware+software configurations. While all software has bugs, at least MS stuff *works*. I can't say the same for the Linux crapware distributions.

I am finding that even Office 2007 *beta* is far more polished than OpenOffice - I mean it's not even close. And I'm not even talking about the GUI whatsoever - and if I did, Office 2007 would completely blow away OO in any and every comparison for user friendlyness and intuitiveness. Not even a remote comparison can be made between the two - OO just looks like unpolished, unperformant, slopware (compared to Office 2007 beta that is). Office 2003 smokes OO as well, but I'm not talking about Office 2003. I'm talking about Office 2007 *beta*.

Anyways, going to get back to learning about POWERSHELL on Windows. The best shell ever created for the PC - FAR better than ANYTHING Linux-UNIX offers or has ever offered. Makes the korn-bash-csh shell seem like a kid's toy.

PowerShell is going to be the next gen. shell for Windows - check it out from Microsoft.com (it's completely free).
