More Linux Slopware. I can't believe you guys use this crap. 1950Short answer - your computer is not fit for multimedia task -- doens't matter if you are using Linux or Windows. Linux multimedia apps are design for HD base format. Your computer can't even handle 4:3 base movies!
flatfish+++ It is not the apps, it's you! I have converted many divx, avi files using Linux apps, and they are all okay. An average DVD has 4.4 gig of space, make sure you project will fit into that much.. Once my dvd project went 7Gig, and I knew this would happen, and was able to shrink it using dvd-shrink (that's windows apps) You tried to convert too many files - and you got that result you were looking at..
Finally your computer is not fit multimedia work -- read any pc related magazine. For a multimedia need hard-drive should be about 150 gig. Your hard-drive or parbreastion is not even fit for Windows XP!!!!!!!!!! In my office Windows xp sp2 takes about 75gig! - of course we use heavy duty hard-ware & software. Still Windows XP, Office apps, and Multimedia apps take about 30 gig -- keep in mind I didnt' count multimedia content - say entire season of Start Trek TNG would about 4.7 - all seven seasons about 32 gigs! Then explain to me why Nero can convert the EXACT SAME files on a drive, almost... Linux is as ready for prime time as it was three years ago. It is your hardware - which is not fit for multimedia task! Infact - you should only use this hard-drive with windows 98! or older linux apps. This is the smallest hard-drive I've ever seen for creating HD-DVD! More Linux Slopware. I can't believe you guys use this crap. 1951 4.23GB usable on a -R, 8.37GB on a dual layer. The default bitrate of video DVD is 9MBit. This means 4.24GB-hour. There's nothing wrong in compressing it some, to maybe 6 or 7MBit, before... HD-DVD & Blue ray base movie consume over 20 gig - remember it just a one hour movie. Too old to be drawn into flame war :)
