Oh boy...freshmeat! this is going to be fun!!

Then explain to me why Nero can convert the EXACT SAME files on a drive, almost the same size (within a gig or 2) of free space?

What you are telling me, is that Linux needs almost 19g to create a 1.4 gig DVD (the amount of space used on the DVD).

Magazine? Why should I read a magazine? I do audio recording for a living and have been doing so for many years.

What is your magazine going to tell me? Replace my $1000.00 audio card with a Creative Soundblaster?

Maybe that I should replace all my UAD plugins because they won't work with Linux?

For a multimedia need hard-drive should be about 150 gig.

You are buttuming I only have one hard drive in the box. Duhhhhh.....

flatfish+++ Without the name of the file, format, and the size, and what it was converted or transformed to, I can't be sure... I don't think we are speaking a same language here... Let's say...

You are running Microsoft Office on a Digital Audio-Video Workstation?

You had better read some of those great magazines you keep talking about. IOW, not a good idea.

Entire season of Star Trek? WTF would I do with that?

You're preaching to the choir dude. I run a recording studio. A professional recording studio running Nuendo for post and Protools for tracking along with Sony Vegas, Soundforge and more plugins than you can shake a stick at.

BTW that was only the drive in question that I df'd.

Here is the almost entire file system on that sysem:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted ondev-hdd1 35G 14G 20G 43%dev-hda1 38G 2.8G 35G 8%mnt-wincdev-hde1 190G 85G 106G 45%mnt-winddev-hdf1 150G 55G 95G 37%mnt-wine none 506M 0 506M 0%dev-shm

.... the reason I say "almost" is because Linux doesn't recognize my RAID controller with two 250g Maxtor drives configured as a mirrored pair.

FWIWdev-hdd1 is the Linux drive and up until yeasterday it had about 19g free space, give or take.

Yawwn. Look, I have nothing against amateurs, and I can understand how you can think that was the only drive in my system, but really? Next time do a little research before trying to act like a professional. Please?

So?

I'm trying to burn a 1.x G disk with 19 gig of free space?

Yet you started one :) Not really.

And I can't believe that you think that we care what you believe. Almost all of us are leaving your articles on the...

I forgive you for buttuming I only had one drive, but ask yourself this.

If the drive I showed df on isdev-hdd1, how on earth could I get Windows and Linux on one parbreastion at the same time? Never mind the space requirements, how could I do that?

Now you have your answer.
