Correction: A malicious, ignorant, obnoxious and dishonest coward who sometimes calls himself "flatfish+++" Who cares? He has ZERO credibility. I think that this idiot actually believes that I will...

flatfish+++

Without the name of the file, format, and the size, and what it was converted or transformed to, I can't be sure...

I don't think we are speaking a same language here...

Let's say I have a divx movie - 800mb, about 1.2 hours, with ac3 audio.

I decided to convert it into dvd formated (mpg) - it would go some where around 2 - 3 gig.

Now, I decided to transformed this into a dvd - with menu and stuff - about 2.3 - 3.3 gig.

Keep in mind I am using command base apps - called transcode.

For me it is like this.

And I can't believe that you think that we care what you believe. Almost all of us are leaving your articles on the server, or have killfiled...

Original file 800MB Converted into dvd format "MPG" 2-3 GIG Finalizing the project "Chapters, menu, subbreastles, "2.2 - 3.2" GIG

I use a very different system, however, it's same with operating system. The reason you may not have notice before is because some apps hide these large files, in windows "temp" folders, in mac swap files or .folder, and Linux -well- you know.

Some of them are quite useful - try www.tomshardware,com

I am buttuming here that we are talking about converting divx or xvid file into dvd. I don't think your sound card will help you.

I am not sure, I think this is a compression issue... Althogh, there maybe some codec issue. Do you have a mplayer?

Let's say I am trying to to create a dvd. And my project goes some where around - 15gig. Now an averge DVD is about 4.4gig, and I want to shrink it using windows app. I would save it on a vfat parbreastion - go to my xp computer - sharing vfat parbreastion - there I would use vob blanker, and then dvd-shrink. It would take you about three hours to seven hours to compress it using duel core cpu :P

I should tell you that I have done this type of project, I was able to compress entire 24 episodes of a one season into a single dvd - Original season came with six dvds - four episodes in one dvds. Quality of my dvd is more or less okay :)

Not really, I am not really sure what you are trying to do....

My advice is that - if your project is very important then just finish it on the operating system you are most familiar with - try playing with Linux when you have a free time. It took me two years to get use to Linux environment -- now i enjoy compiling kernel, debugging apps, calculus fights :P I can't imagine going back to window$ :)

On Sat, 29 Jul 2006 04:50:04 +0000, Tim Smith Program is supposed to do that all in one shot. Left it all default. This is simple DVD. Those programs, like DAW programs use...
