More Linux Slopware. I can't believe you guys use this crap

So I have a couple of videos in mpeg format that I wish to burn onto a DVD so I can play it on the family entertainment system.

Someone in the group suggested a program called DVDStyler which is supposed to do this kind of stuff, convert, burn and produce a DVD all in one operation.

Fair enough, I download it using Synaptic from PCLinuxOS repository and fire it up. While it looks pretty crude compared to Nero, I follow the directions and drag 3 mpg files over to the Window, select thetmp directory and insert a blank DVD. This is about 1.2G worth of data BTW.

It seems to fire off with some detailed messages about demux'ing and all kinds of other *geek stuff*. It would be nice if it gave me a timer or percent completion percentage or something. Maybe it does once the program actually works, because it doesn't. Work that is.

After about 10 minutes of weird messages,I notice the hard disk light on solid which is wierd and things are starting to crash. Pan went right down the tubes and started asking me for my profile etc as if it was the first time I installed the program. Not normal.

So I kill DVDStyler and start looking around.

Wow, my parbreastion is sitting at 99 percent full!!!!

Interesting considering it is a 40gig drive and I have about 19 gig free, At least I did before I started this miserable program.

Bottom line, I had a directory called "DVD" which DVDStyler created that for some weird reason was sitting at 18.x gig!!

Deleted it and system is back to normal.

Duhh, of course there is no space left, that fscking DVDStyler managed to suck up almost 19g in about 15 minutes, give or take. WTF it was doing is beyond me, but the folder had a pile of VOB files and other stuff in it.

BTW Nero for Windows XP works like a charm.
