We're talking about MySQL pbuttwords and MySQL users and MuSQL access rights not Linux administration. You talk about...

...by you.

Desperate COLANUTS. Married to Linux but still have no life
Here is a list of the hardcore, rabid, Linux users who hand out in comp.os.linux.advocacy and crunk Linux. William Poaster --- A former troll of the 24hr.support...

First of all, I wasn't addressing you. But, since you've butted in, I will now. Secondly, I have used mysql docs to configure my mysql server. They worked just fine for me. That I haven't used the mysql ref doc to config the server to allow access from another linux box I freely admitted. I did address the OP's issue of setting up pbuttwords and accounts. Finally, that I *haven't* configured access from a remote Linux box "using the MySQL docs as guidance" doesn't mean it can't be done or I don't know how to do it. As I stated previously, it can be done from phpmyadmin or from a ssh connection. BTW, that ssh trick was very much in the mysql ref doc. You don't even have to read it. Just fire up an ssh client and log in.

I know enough about it to be able to do it. How about you? I don't know why you can't figure it out after reading the ref docs or spending "hours" googling for info. Maybe there's a config file you've overlooked. Maybe it's a rh-fedora proprietary thing. Maybe you're just stupid! Regardless, it's not my problem and I have better things to do than argue pointless minutiae with you two. ....bye!
