NBie Frustrations... 7230 On Sat, 17 Dec 2005 03:46:53 +0100, Enrique Perez-Terron staggered into the Black Sun and said: snip Well, it didn't seem to me that the OP had Googled or... I feel you would be happier staying with Windows. I perceive that your frustrations may have deeper roots than not finding Linux the same as Windows. If you are not a problem solver and desire instant gratification, you should return to Windows and shake the dust from your sandals. However, if you are willing to chip away at the challenges which have been presented to you in your initial installation, here are some recommendations: 1. Take one "challenge" at a time and research the situation. For scanner, there will be plenty of explanations as to why the Visioneer the scanner, you are pretty much stuck unless you get another one which is happy with Linux. This is not the fault of Linux developers, BTW, but the Visioneer folks. 2. The printer problem may well be something in your printer itself and-or the various adjustments in the Printer Manager. As I said, try to take each challenge individually and solve it, if you choose. Your writing sounds, however, that you are aiming your shotgun of dissatisfaction at the Linux world in general. This is incorrect, in my opinion. Linux is a very different operating system; you must not expect Windows XP behavior unless, of course, you fine tune your system to act like that. If you were to try BeOS, QNX, BSD, MacOX, you would find differences there also; some dramatic, some minor and inconsequental. Lastly, IF you are a yet another Microsoft Department X Troll, attempting to sow discontent and arguments among the Faithful, please swallow your tongue and quietly choke to rest in the confines of your pathetic trollish cubical of doom but say hello to Billy Boy before your last croak. Cheers, Dave
