NFS and "Permission denied" errorFabio Alemagna I can't comment on MDK as I don't use it - but I had a similar problem on Debian. It offered both kernel-based and user-based nfs server utilities. I found that each had problems. I can't remember which, but one of them had random permission errors - ie sometimes a configuration would work and sometimes the same configuration would not work. I'm running Gentoo now and its nfsd uses the kernel module. I have no problems with it. So first thing I would suggest is if you can swap between kernel or user-space tools, try that. Second thing is that you may need 'insecure' as an option (read the manpage on exports). Third thing to try is to specifically permit the localhost with 127.0.0.1(rw,sync,norootsquash,insecure) and see if that works. Finally check that you are running portmap on the clients (obviously when you try to connect on the server you are or the nfs server wouldn't start). Sick of trolls! 3719 As mentioned else-thread, I scan 90 newsgroups each day (I only read perhaps 10), so I get pressed for time. I... Can you paste the exact error message you are getting and from which clients? Microsoft Media Juggernaut Is Unstoppable So Long Linux Dr. Scab So, on the basis of there being a challenge with playing certain media files, "Linux" should just hang... That's not a problem - my server does the same. This sounds like it's all working on the server side - I get the same message in my log when a mount succeeds. Perhaps its that random permission problem that I experienced on Debian.
