Been a While What Distro do I get 4825 Many Linux distros are available via free download. Unfortunately, HatRed (Red Hat) as we knew it is no longer available... However, from what I know of NTFS support, so far the distributions disable write support for NTFS in the kernel, and if you rebuild your kernel with write support for NTFS, then the only things you can do on an NTFS filesystem are: - reading a file; and - writing to a file without that the filesize grows, i.e. mildly editing its contents. Work is in progress but you do know that NTFS is a proprietary and thus closed-source filesystem, and I don't think Microsoft is going to reach out to the FOSS community there. ;-) Not to be disrespectful, but I think that Microsoft will release the source code to NTFS just a few weeks after Pope Benedict XVI will have -- With kind regards, *Aragorn* (Registered Gnu-Linux user #223157)
