Netstat not showing PIDsHi, while using netstat I have the problem that it doesnt show the PIDs of all open ports, instead only a very few ports are listed with the according PID. A sample output looks like this: netstat -nlp Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State User Inode PID-Program name tcp 0 0 172.20.0.1:139 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 2591365201 - tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:139 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 2591365199 - tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:113 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 258872468 plus 19 - tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 2592345773 - tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:25 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 763 435-exim4 tcp 0 0 172.20.0.1:445 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 2591365200 - tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:445 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 2591365198 - udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:32768 0.0.0.0:* 65534 700 402-dnsmasq So there are lots of lines where the PID is not listed. The thing which makes we wonder is that I have other linux machines also running debian and they clearly list all open ports with the correct PIDs. What is even more strange is that lsof -i lists all information incl. all PIDs. Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be? Ubuntu 5.04 Uses Old RDesktop No Characters When Typing I have resolved this problem. You may be using Ubuntu 5.04. It ships with an older rdesktop... My system is a : uname -a Linux linmachine 2.4.26 #13 SMP Sun Jun 20 04:39:10 CEST 2004 i686 GNU-Linux Debian. Thanks!
