Computers have become very, very cheap. So cheap that I've had no takers for a used Thinkpad A22p (PIII-900... Hi, I never had the luxury to have two computers in one room. But I think you can get two more ethernet interface card (perhaps you already have them in your linux box and eMac) aside from the one connected to your adsl modem, put your machines in one mini-LAN (man ifconfig), then setup an FTP service on the linux box. If my memory serves me well, media players such as mplayer supports playing stream from FTP. Even if that's not working, you can also try other free stream services. I think there are a lot out there. I find there are much fewer software for PPC platform, either in binary or source code form. You have PPC versions for a lot of common programmes such as editors and desktop applications, but many linux software only have i386 version. You can install a lot of linux distros and some *BSDs on PPC, but software may be a problem. But again, I find MacOSX is designed for DRM and consumption (read: draining your wallet). So I think at least turning to linux can save you much money and perhaps considerable time watching DVDs ('cause it would be a bit difficult on a PPC linux platform). Cheers,
