Hyperthread is dual channel. two programs can step through the cpu, for every clock pulse, instead of one. It is almost like having a dual cpu mainboard.

You mentioned a lot of problems. Noone has really done any thing perfect on the first try, and usually, it is wise to get some tutoring from someone who has dine it before!

Actually, the Linux users are as knowledgeable, helpful, and kind, as I have ever experienced, in any technology! So, you need to contact the SUSE forums, or any of the 678 Linux Users Groups locally!

I am 58, spent 20 years in the USAF as a crypto and computer tech., and have been doing Linux since 1997, and I butture you that I am STILL learning many things new, everyday!

One more thing, please, and that is for you to realize that it is NOT a failure on your part, to not get everything perfect the first time! Just read the FAQs, get on some use groups, forums, and the SUSE help sites!

Also, you know, most of us are not biased against MAC or MS, and that we simply use the best tools for any job! But, when I can get a PC with Linux to work just fine, with better security than MS, and, instead of having to spend $3,000 for a full blown MAC G5, I am simply exercising my freedom to be thrifty!

With Linux, I am not having to be locked into some proprietary 'solution' in which my data is not available to me, in all the formats I choose. So, Freedom of choice is a BIG thing among most Linux users, as opposed to MS or MAC. --
