Numlock Style 1022On Thu, 27 Apr 2006 16:33:06 -0000, Thomas privatesey staggered into the Black Sun and said: Yesterday, the only Linux machine running X that I had was my laptop, which doesn't have a real numpad. I typed "Up" instead of KPUp for some reason, possibly because I was typing fast and trying to deal with many useful letters going away every time I pressed Shift+ScrollLock. Anyway, it's a different keysym, sure, but in many apps, KPUp and Up display identical behavior. I think either one would probably work for what the OP wanted. The real problem is the Shift modifier state. The 2.4 kernels don't support USB 'hotplugging' (you have to start... This is definitely not what I see on either my desktop or laptop. I'm using the default US English keymap, no XKB options, and a generic 104-key PC keyboard for X keyboard settings. When both NumLock and Shift are down, and I press 8 on the numeric keypad, a KPUp keysym shows up according to xev. Yes, but that won't help the OP unless there's some way to temporarily cancel the Shift modifier. I don't know of a way to do that yet. When a key is really down, a KeyStrRelease event sent with xmacroplay seems to be overridden by the real keyboard. XKB *might* help the OP here, or it just might confuse the hell out of him. The "numpad:microsoft" XKB option might do something, maybe. I won't have time to fiddle with X things any more until much later today though.
