Announce: Open Instrumentation Project
This announces the Open Instrumentation Project (OIP), which has been formed to support open-source software and low cost hardware for electronic instrumentation. The objective is to make...

On Sunday 27 August 2006 21:41, Alan Connor stood up and addressed the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.miscas follows...:

I am sorry to see that you're cataloging me among the trolls, Alan. Perhaps you've forgotten that you and I did exchange a few thoughts on certain matters here oncomp.os.linux.miscin the past, and in a civilized fashion?

I've also spent enough time incomp.os.linux.advocacy- although I do not reside there anymore - to know that the posters known asLin¿nutandRickare not trolls but GNU-Linux advocates.

As for the poster known asHadron-Quark,I do not know him, but I certainly don't like the tone he uses, and others probably better placed than I am have already referred to him as aflatfish+++wannabe.

And while we're at it, please allow me to give you my advice - which of course you are free to adopt or ignore...

You seem to be jumping to conclusions too fast in calling people trolls. Calling *me* a troll would most certainly be the biggest misjudgment you could make in that respect.

X crashes, black screen video signal still there, and have to shutdown and power up

I don't think it would be fair to judge people as trolls on account of the newsreader they use or the threads they participate in. What clbuttifies them as trolls or not is in the messages they post, and the way they post them. Their use of a pseudonym - as long as it does not change or as long as they give notice of such a change if they feel in need of a new Usenet idenbreasty - is also not a criterion to catalog someone as being a troll.

You yourself have already stated that Alan Connor is not your real name, so why should you then buttume that anyone else with a pseudonym is a troll? That makes no sense...

It would also be unfair to judge me as a troll because I have no beef with some of the people you are not on good terms with or that I converse with them here on Usenet from time to time, such as Chris F.A. Johnson, to name but one. I find the man's knowledge and expertise very inspiring, and people like that certainly earn my respect.

Do distro installers downsize shrink Windows 2185

For the record, I would also like to emphasize that I personally dislike the fact that one certainSamis stalking you with every post you make - not that you've been contributing a lot to this newsgroup lately, because all I get to see from you are articles in which you accuse people of being trolls.

I realize that you may not be reading this post of mine - the odds are real and I'll just have to take my chances on that. I also realize that this post of mine must come across as extremely naive in the eyes of others, but I don't see it that way.

As I have explained before plenty of times, I have an autistic disorder known as Asperger's Syndrome. This affliction, in combination with my personality, makes it compelling for me to be honest and to value honesty and innocence. If this comes across as naivitŽ, then so be it - likewise for the chances that you won't even read my post. Like I said, I can live with that.

I just felt that I needed to say what I needed to say, and I've waited a long time to say it - perhaps too long - but you calling *me* a troll has finally pushed me over that edge far enough for me to reply.

As I said before, you are free to read this post or not, and to take my words into account or not. I just needed to get this off my chest. What you do with it is your business alone.

Have a nice day, Alan.

*Aragorn* (registered GNU-Linux user #223157)
