First: Use a name in your From header. Go to:

You don't have to hope I have permission, I do. The organization I work for has a strict policy about privacy on their...

and plug names into the Author box until you find one that returns zero hits. Then stick with it.

Second: Learn to use a real newsreader. Only trolls and clueless newbies use google to post through and-or read from.

news.software.readers.

If you don't do the above, most of the best people on the Usenet won't even download your articles.

Ok, just remember, you will be uncompressing files from the cd as you you run applications. In other words, it is going to be slooooow. Well, I played with...

Do yourself and the Usenet a big favor and don't follow the examples the trolls set.

Changing psuedo-idenbreasties (name-newsserver-cosmetics) can be done by any ignorant child with their mommy's computer and credit card. It doesn't impress anyone but ignorant teenyboppers.

Just using an alias (not your real name) and an ordinary ISP-NSP provides all the security you need. It doesn't protect you from organized crime or anyone who can afford to hire a large personal investigations firm, or the government, or even a modest-sized corporation, but neither do the troll tricks.

Trolls are dishonest cowards. They aren't hiding anything but their true posting histories from ordinary Useneters.

And don't worry about their silly threats. There isn't a troll on the Usenet that can do anything but sit on his butt and run his mouth.

You could post your image, physical address, and real name with every article and you'd be completely safe.

Note: I won't be downloading any articles on this thread.

Alan
