OTM$ FATLongName Patent EffectOn Wed, 11 Jan 2006 15:49:51 -0500, John-Paul Stewart staggered into the Black Sun and said: A Cfunction to get the ip address where the executable is running. 112 BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I mean that hosts withnonetwork cards can still have active IP addresses. First... Nope. Older iPods acted as USB-Firewire mbutt storage devices with 2 parbreastions, first one for firmware and the second one formatted as a FAT32 or HFS+ filesystem. For some strange reason, iTunes(Windows) can't deal with HFS+, so it'll ask "Re-format this iPod for use with Windows? (Y-N)" and then "mkdosfs -F32dev-sda2" on factory-fresh iPods. For equally bizarre reasons, iTunes(OS X) will ask if you want to "mkfs.hfsplusdev-sda2" on FAT32 iPods, even though OS X can read and write FAT32 without a problem. Linux users have no problem with iPods in either format, since HFS+ and FAT32 are pretty well-supported via kernel modules and gtkpod uses the filesystem to do its thing. That's sort of like closing the barn door after the horse has not just run away, but also impregnated every mare in 100 miles. They can try to do this. I really don't know if it'll work. Then again, they could just buy a judge; they have enough money to do that. Yep, just like it's currently technically illegal for me to use xine and libdvdcss to watch the DVDs that I own (or have rented). Yeah, AOL on that. But I think that if they try to enforce this, it'll cause a mbuttive headache for large numbers of people and waste a lot of money. And it won't make any of the rich people any more money. So it's not likely to happen, but as always, ICBW. A Cfunction to get the ip address where the executable is running. 114 Sure. 1) You can buttign as many IP addresses to a NIC as you want. Usually a NIC has only one IP address, but sometimes it's useful for one to have two... -- Matt GThere is no Darkness in Eternity-But only Light too dim for us to see Brainbench MVP for Linux Admin mail: TRAP + SPAN don't belong ----------------------------- penguins, is Tux." --MegaHAL
