Technically, it was only "postponed" but I think we all knew it was canceeled, I grant you that.

But if IBM doesn't flip flop, what was;

OSF? Monterey?

BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Tony Lawrence Do explain how IBM can do anything more than just drop support for Linux (which isn't really that catastrophic). Be very specific, and remember...

But these are all normal changes in strategic direction for a company.

"Postponing" Solaris x86 was a grave strategical error which would have end Sun had it not been reversed.

I'm not sure we flip-flop much on that; we feel that Linux is a "like" operating system and on our side in the battle against the evil empire. But Red Hat is a compebreastor and any perceived flipflopping in that respect derives from that. We re-sell Red Hat, SuSE but not MS Windows. (We qualify the hardware, but I'm sure we don't want to get in the "you're the OEM, you support it" model of shipping hardware with Windows)

Oh, I bet Oracle likes such configurations if you do the $math.

Casper -- Expressed in this posting are my opinions. They are in no way related to opinions held by my employer, Sun Microsystems. Statements on Sun products included here are not gospel and may be fiction rather than truth.
